What’s the right time to post?

How often should you blog?

When and where should you promote it?

If you’re anything like many Social Diva Media clients when I first meet them, you are completely overwhelmed by these questions — and probably by the thought of social media.

I’m here to tell you that social media is not as challenging as you think. Just plan!

Step 1: First, step away from your keyboard, iPhone or Droid. Think about what your potential customer wants to hear — then how often and when. To start, I recommend reviewing your Facebook Analytics to see what time your brand is most popular.

Step 2: Create an editorial calendar, preferably a week to a month ahead. With this in hand, you’ll communicate important information on a daily basis that supports your content and inform your readers.

Step 3: Utilize a scheduling tool. Set up your posts days, weeks, or even months in advance. Great options include TweetDeck, HootSuite and Buffer.

Step 4: Set aside two times a day to check your page for engagement. You don’t need to respond each second that someone posts. In fact, my rule is simply to respond on the same business day. Engaging your audience is key to success on social media. Remember, you’re in a two-way conversation.

Let’s review:

  1. Strategize
  2. Create an editorial calendar
  3. Use scheduling tools
  4. Set aside engagement time each day

Social media is all about you being you and reaching out on a regular basis. If you can think of it as simply a regular part of your routine, it will be effortless and fun!
